Roosevelt State Park, Pine Mountain Ga. This park is located near Callaway Gardens, approx. 80 minutes West North West of Macon Ga. Towing a trailer at 60 mph, it is a ten hour drive from Bradenton, Fl. We found FDR State Park overall a great place to camp. Debbie and I will definitely return to this park in the near future. F. D. R. campground is situated approx 1 mile down the mountain side from the check-in center. Most of the sites are relatively close. The hard wood canopy is fairly heavy throughout the campground. The park is very clean and well maintained. I think Ga. has some of the finest State Parks we have visited. As in all Ga. State Parks, the early bird gets the choice site; you can not reserve a certain site.

For those who prefer cabins, FDR State Park has those as well. The cabins were built during the CCC. They are constructed from indigenous stone and wood.

While camping at F.D.R., Debbie and I visited The Little White House. President Roosevelt spent a lot of time there due to his polio while away from Washington D.C. I was amazed at how simple he lived. Franklin was a Blue Blood and could have afforded any construction of home. I was also impressed with his many accomplishments during his four terms in Office. The museum on the grounds houses a wealth of F.D. Roosevelt’s achievements. He also died in this home.
